Why Monday is a Holy Day…

“You want to know what living life to the fullest actually is? It’s waking up on a monday morning with no complaints. It’s knowing you always deserve to laugh. It’s doing what feels right no matter what. It’s doing what you want to no matter how stupid you look. It’s about being yourself, because no one can tell you you’re doing it wrong.” ~ Bernajoy Vaal

When I was a lil girl, I dreaded Mondays

When I was a teenager… I still dreaded Mondays.
When I started to work, I dreaded Monday Mornings even more.

I started to hate Monday Mornings…
Just the thought of Monday Morning would make my stomach turn sour.
My anxieties would spike up as I contemplated my million “to dos”,
work conversations left unfinished, and meetings upon meetings to plan and attend.

My inner sense would tell me… “this doesn’t feel right”
this doesn’t seem like the way humans were meant to live.
This feels too repetitive, constrictive, too much of a routine…

YUCK!!! my soul felt caged
It felt like I couldn’t really breathe

I mean, why do other people have other schedules?
I started to wonder about how other people led their lives.
What did they do?
How come they were not rushing to work and headed to a cafe?

And one day I dreamed as I was hurrying into the subway, that I would have Mondays off
that I would have an easy lazy start to a Monday Morning
and sit in cafes
and lead a SLOWER healthier paced life.

Many teased. Some laughed. Others mocked me, “Yeah right.”

But I insisted…
If this is my life and I’m the creator of it, then I could create a schedule with
Mondays off…

And I did….
For four years
Monday has been my Holy Day.

This day is for me.
This day is for creativity.
This day is for my passions.
This day is for silence.
This day is for me to self indulge.

It’s a day of beauty, slowness, and pleasures.

It’s also my tech free day.
oooh… how that pisses so many people off!!!

Monday Morning is my CAFECITO BREAK DAY.

I invite you to take a lil break on Monday Morning and listen to a podcast I co-create with a tribe of beautiful women, which include my sisters Alex Perez and Ruthie Guten.

Dreams really can come true. They take time and a lot of work. But it’s happening and I am celebrating every HOLY moment. http://www.cafecitobreak.org/

I love you…
