Every book is a quotation; and every house is a quotation out of all forests, and mines, and stone quarries; and every man is a quotation from all his ancestors. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
My daily gratitude ritual…
every day when I rise, I say thank you for my breath… for the blessing of another day.
I go to my altar and say good morning. I then walk to the cocina/kitchen & start getting my cafecito ready. Since I don’t like drinking coffee alone, I recently began to serve a small cup as an offering to my ancestors and family members who are on the other side of the veil. I know they love their coffee!!! 😉
“Thank you,” I say out loud and place the coffee on my altar.
I find myself looking forward to this moment every morning… because this is a moment for me to be present with myself and my connection to my family and my ancestral lineage. In these moments, I take my time. I allow myself to get slow, to sit with my breath. I look at my hands and wonder who the heck I inherited my skinny french fry fingers from…
I look at my feet and see my dads feet… 🙂
ahh, I miss mi viejo… but his feet are alive in me! heh heh
and then there’s a flash of me as a lil girl massaging my dad’s swollen feet. He loved my massages! I remember how proud of myself I felt for doing such a good job
I am humbled by how much I have learned by setting the intention to listen and allowing myself full freedom to pause and feel guilt free in these moments.
Yes, right now, this moment is for me. just for me. And I am savoring it.
